Well another day is almost over and a very interesting day at that. I am sitting here by the fire waiting to go bowling with 2 of my daughters and thought I would jot down some of the things that have been happening. It doesn't matter whether anyone is listening or not, it is good to put the thougths out into the ether and see what comes back.
I did a presentation for a group of young mothers today and it was a very enjoyable afternoon. Lots of interest and questions and hopefully for those present some positive answers as well.
It was certainly a busy location, with babies, toddlers and pre schoolers all over the place!!!
It is rewarding to be able to combine my astrology with my parenting experiences and be able to give new mums and dads some useful guidance.
I mainly talked about the placement of the moon in the horoscope and how it impacts on our early environment and our ablility to give and receive nurturing and love.
One of the most difficult things I found in being a parent is always wondering if you are doing the 'right' thing by your child. When they are little you just have to trust your instincts and hope. The beauty of understanding the personalty through astrology is that it takes away a lot of the guess work. Having seven children I am very aware of the huge differences in personality, even among siblings and that one size doesn't fit all.
I was taken back, just briefly, to when I was a young mum and how daunting the whole thing seemed at times. It was also very eciting and the most rewarding thing a perosn can do. You give birth to a totally dependent other human being that you have created from the fabric of your own being and then watch as the flower gradually unfolds and blossoms into this amazing other person that you can hopefully call friend.
I do miss those days sometimes. Life was so busy, there was always places to be, music lessons, netball, soccer, athletics, swimming, homework and all of the school associated events. There was also plenty of fun and laughter as well as the tears. With seven there were plenty of dramas as well and emergency trips to the doctor or hospital when someone fell out of a tree and broke his arm, or fell of the bike and needed stiches, or the baby had stuck a pea up her nose - for the 3rd time!!!
I think one of the key ingredients for life is a sense of humour and being able to maintain perspective. It has certainly helped me through many a situation.
Anyway it's off to bowl tonight and then back into it in the mornign with our beginners class.
To Eddie, I love you and goodnight.
